Session I. Ten Years Back and Ten Years Ahead:  Green Chemistry and the GC3

In the opening session, we will reflect on how the world has changed during the last decade since the GC3 was formed, vis-a-vis regulations, consumer concerns, NGO advocacy, retailer initiatives, complexity of supply chains and the field of green chemistry.  In this session our panelists will share how product manufacturers have responded and will need to respond in the future, how green chemistry is evolving in academia and industry, and the role of the GC3 in advancing green chemistry in this changing world.

Session II. Moving Forward on Mainstreaming

The GC3 has sponsored a series of Strategic Research Initiatives and discussions to build its Agenda for Mainstreaming Green Chemistry.  This session will present the findings of two of these initiatives-- Making the Business Case for Green Chemistry and Building Demand for Green Chemistry – as well GC3's Agenda for Mainstreaming Green Chemistry, and what the policy implications of these findings may be.

Session VI. Rethinking Reuse: Green Chemistry Transforms Waste to Goods

The conversion of waste materials into usable products has become a popular field of sustainability research in recent decades, beginning with recycling and branching out into the many technologies under development today. In this panel, researchers from industry and academia will explain their unique approaches to sustainably utilizing the chemicals found in various waste streams. Panelists will explain their innovations and discuss the challenges they face in researching and commercializing these green chemistry alternatives.
